Remember the Alamo!

This Memorial Day Weekend Josh, Jude and I packed up the cruiser and headed toward the heart of our State. Josh's old college buddies were headed this way from Alabama and asked us to join them.

This was a first "road trip" with Jude. Jude was a good boy of course. What was refreshingly unexpected was Josh cleaning and setting up the car, printing maps, making an itinerary, compiling music for the course and getting the house in order.

So Yay! for Dad for stepping in and helping out mom in a HUGE way. Great packing, organizing and planning. The trip was extra amazing and fun because of you.

~~

Still not much camera folk - but below is what we captured while packing or unwinding at home from a great trip.

(Long clip of the same thing, a few seconds and you will get a laugh.)

While packing (which takes 8 hours for the boy alone - need to work on that one), Jude was rolling over as he usually does these days. But, also to catch his attention is the "Reach and Grab" trick. This time, it happened simultaneously - reach and grab blanket and roll over and find book. He then couldn't get himself out.

UTSA Institute of Texas Cultures
Our first stop was at Hemisphere Park for a picnic after a long drive, but we stumbled upon several museums within the park and decided on this one. Lucky us, they were holding a concert live on national radio. A military band played the pops while old movies played up above and senior citizens suddenly got a case of quick feet. The funniest part of this outing was a battle between strollers and walkers with wheels.

To note, this gentleman would scoot along like Tim Conway on the Carol Burnett Show. But once the band started, he jumped to his feet, grabbed his lady's hand and started swinging. Of course you guessed it, once the song was over - back to scooting his feet to his chair. They were a sweet couple. The exhibit behind the couple is about Huppahs for those that attended our wedding.

What an old Texas House looked like

Market Square
This was a fun stop. We go to order a big glass of Orchata (Rice Milk with sugar and Cinnamon), Pumpkin Empanada and listen to a live band.

The Family next to Mi Tierra Restaurant. Yes, it was very hot, humid and we were sticky!

This is old college room-mates with their Kiddos. Little Levi on the left is 2 1/2, Kara is 7 months and Jude at almost 6 months.

The River Walk

Unfortunate that we didn't get any photos of this part of the trip. Our hotel (Hotel Valencia) was located on the river. Excuse the weird expression, at Josh's height, you think he's photographing something passed you or up in the air.

Trip Home

If you see in the distance, Jude's toe popping through his blanket. Josh had to pull over, stop the vehicle and squeeze this toe. Luckily, we were just 1/8 mile from the house.

We all made it home - safe and back to schedule. So, How early does this trait (reading while taking care of business) actually start? For Jude, apparently 5 1/2 months.
